Carved from the former Selous Game Reserve in 2019, Nyerere is one of the largest national parks in Africa at over 30,000 square kilometres. The Rufiji River runs through it, making boat safaris possible — a genuinely different experience from the northern circuit. Visitor numbers are a fraction of the Serengeti’s, so sightings are rarely shared.
