Dar es Salaam is the commercial heart of Tanzania and the main international arrival point for the southern circuit and the coast. Most travelers pass through rather than stay, but the National Museum, the fish market at Kivukoni and the beaches north at Kunduchi reward a day. Ferries to Zanzibar leave from the central harbour throughout the day.
